This stunning Gebbe model looks familiar, but I can't find a name for him.
I thought perhaps he modeled for Lon, but that was a dead end.
Striking photo of a model au naturel in a simple pose. Gebbe (1901-1977) was part of that Silver Era of physique photographers. Edwin Townsend, Earle Forbes, Al Urban, Lou Melan, Barton Horvath, Dick Falcon, the Ritter Brothers and Lon Hanagan. Photographers that started to give the Silver Era a golden sheen. Gebbe mentored Lon and gave him entry to the world of physique photography. Like the master mentoring the maestro. Gebbe met his models among the men at the 63rd st YMCA, the Washington Baths on Coney Island and among the young men in theatrical circles. All that is true, so I can't understand why it is so difficult to find Gebbe's work on line.
