Apparition

I was thinking this picture is pleasant and technically good for a snapshot, and then I noticed a man's face above and just to the right of the subject's crotch.  What is that?

  1. That IS weird, isn't it? Still it's a nice shot, basically.

  2. Scarecrow, maybe?

    1. I hadn't thought of that, but he is in the country.

  3. Hard to tell on such a low resolution image. There is a white branch between naked guy and the alleged face. If the face had been superimposed in the darkroom (via double exposure), the negative of the face (bright) would have burned the paper over the white branch (black negative). The shape of the black "support" below the head is also very not-logical.
The scarecrow thgeory supported by what looks like broo attached to arm. The hair atop face could be leaves rom tree, but the forehead and nose are hard to explain. Scarecrow right next to a large tree doesn't make much sense though since birds can see refuge on tree safely above the scarecrow

    1. And I suppose it might be some random arrangement of leaves, branches, and/or darkroom accidents.

  4. The black and white looks like a fur pattern. Perhaps a goat, maybe?

  5. I thinkit's a case of 'pareidolia', the tendency to ascribe meaning to visual patterns - particularly seeing faces in things.

    1. Absolutely, but I'd love to know what objects, if any, made that pattern.

    2. Got it, thank you, Vic. Looks like a goat to me.

  6. I love you, Jerry. But I'd go with Brian E, "pareidolia." Like in those old Magic Eye pics that came out 10 or 20 yrs ago. As for the goat image, that would freak me out a bit, like it was something satanic. I wonder what Rorschach would make of that! LOL.

    1. You're like correct. I have a thing for goats. We had some on the ranch for brush control, and I had the job of bottle feeding the occasional orphan.
