In motion
I have no provenance for this motion study of a man and his bicycle.
A Google image search turned up some sites that say it's by French photographer Etienne-Jules Marey. His camera took multiple images on one piece of film, unlike Muybridge who used multiple cameras. I went back on line and researched this photo, and the most recent consensus is that it is indeed by Marey. The version I found may (or may not) be a digitally cleaned up copy. A French museum website shows a yellowed and slightly less sharp identical image as a documented Marey. So now I think I need to do a Marey series based on all the other photos I found while tracking this one down.
It's no Muybridge, that's for sure.
