It is rather denying the reality of the male body. Especially the enjoyment of communal nudity. I confess, I am a bit manscaper. More a case of looking tidy, rather than fashion.
I think it can work, but only in a few cases. About 30 years ago, I used to attend a men only nude swimming group. There was a stunningly well-built bodybuilder. Apart from his flat top, he was totally hairless. An amazing and popular sight.
In these days of "trimming", one can easily forget just how thick bushes can be.
