"Johnny"

That tattoo appears to say "Johnny," but all my notes and the extant promotional material refer to him as simply "John."  Perhaps the more serious version was felt to be appropriate for his very masculine and somewhat mature impact on the viewer.  Mr. Skaggs certainly stands out in that regard.
