The chemistry is definitely there. Perhaps the photographer a friend, knowing that they were an item was a friend, suggested the hand on the shoulder? But at the same time, slight awkwardness, implying denial? There seems to be a game of footsie going on. A delightful image. They look good together. I hope they found happiness.
