This is the first of three Munnings paintings featured today that are set in studios.
Munnings was best known for his World War I commemorative works
and paintings of horses, so his nudes are likely all academic work.

  1. This is lovely. You can almost smell the studio. The narrow palate range is great. The stacked chairs and window not so different to the paints used for our fairly mature model's lean musculature. I wonder what point he chose as his reference to keep his head in place?
