In the first of two studio photos in today's composite series,
we see Jack Thomas in seated version of the classic flex pose.
I agree too, slightly too much on the torso. But it dose make him quite statue like. Although we can see tan lines, do you think any body make-up was used? Do you know much about its use? In some of Jack's other photographs his body is very dark and shiny. I seem to remember reading about 15 years ago on a now lost physique blog about the use of quite dark make-up to emphasise muscular detail. Even getting the model's wife to apply it! If only you could interview one of the great physique photographers, find out all their methods.
I have seen at least a dozen photos where body makeup appears to have been used, so what you read could well be true. And I'm talking about just the ones that hit you in the face.
Wow, that extra twist at the waist in this pose makes it stunning.
ReplyDeleteI agree, but have to say I could have done with a bit less oil.

DeleteThere's more darkroom work than just drawing a pouch, a shadow was removed also.
ReplyDeleteAnd you found this one, too!
