Unconventional
I don't think I've ever seen a modcl posed quite like this in academic art before.
The undated 19th Century work is by Alexander Ivanov.

Certainly an unconventional twist not usually see in academic works. I rather like the way it shows the abdominal development.

He did a lot of male nudes in Stalin's time (even a mosaic at Moscow's metro).
My gaydar goes on high gear over him and his paintings...
