From the little bits and pieces of information handed down from the servicemen/models of that era, there was little in the way of consequences for modeling in the legally published magazines. They were not frontally nude, and the publications were not overtly labeled as gay. For that matter, many (more likely most) of the models were heterosexual at that point.

DeleteSo True. Leon Yarusi pased away in 2012 at age 75 in New Jersey. His obit was placed by Paula.
