He always seemed to enjoy posing from his photos. Ivan, Juwa La Vonce ,John Hadnagy, Alan Parker, Howard Heidtman and Don Hawksley all seem to be around at the same time at AMG's corral ca 1956-58. -Rj
I read somewhere that some models refused to smile and that some photographers encouraged the "tough guy" look. Hence, fewer smiles in these sorts of photos than we might like.
Very nicely posed. That drapery, I bet it was red, almost acting as some sort of mysterious unsupported cloth. Ivan's long body, slightly reduced by that foreshortening diagonal position. And, yes, a great smile. And why not... Showing off all his hard work in the gym.
Thanks for your informed comment, David. I would only add that he manages to look balanced and comfortable in a pose which might make some models look like they were about to fall over backwards.
