Russ Warner Himself

Our first Los Angeles based photographer who didn't make my top 12 is Russ Warner.  We're taking a brief detour from our trip to LA to see the photographer himself on Waikiki Beach here in Hawaii.  He was known to do self portraits, but I don't know if this is one or not. Click or tap on the Russ Warner label in the column at right to see more of his work and some biographical information.

  1. I know you have at least one shot of him frontal. Are there any others? Where would I look?

What a nice photo of Russ Warner in the beautiful setting that IS Hawaii.
Only a few of my relatives have been to Hawaii, my mom's dad when he worked for the Federal Government training military mechanics on how to properly weld and repair aluminium panels and components during WW2, my father who had several well-off relatives who traveled from the 20s to the 50s on the Matson liners to Hawaii, my father's cousin Marion who was a flight attendant with Pan Am in the late 40s early 50s when the only people who could travel were government employees, their dependents and the wealthy (tourist fares, affordable hotels,jet-liners and mass tourism opened it up to everyone) and my cousin who was a nurse in the US Army and lived in Hawaii for one-year in the 90s (her neighbor who lived in the same condo building was in her 80s, well-tanned, wore string bikinis, drank and swore like a sailor and had a boyfriend who was half her age as told to me by my cousin).
Jerry, to you, your family and all your friends in beautiful Hawaii - Aloha a me na manao maikai.

    1. I was born and raised on a ranch in West Texas, but have lived in Hawaii almost 20 years now.

    2. Well, that goes for any of your relations in Texas too. -Rj

    3. Those relations from Texas fall into two groups, ignorant rednecks and educated folks who have left the state. I occasionally go to reunions, and a complete stranger could easily differentiate the two groups with no help. Don't get me wrong. I'm quite fond of some of the rednecks, but there's a reason (or maybe a dozen reasons) I don't live there any more.
