Jared French, 1950
George Platt Lynes photographed his friend and collaborator Jared French dozens of times,
both nude and clothed. Our final photo of today's series is one of my personal favorites.
One of the (many) things I like about Lynes' works is that his naked models were natural...no shaved chests or groins. Some were uncircumcised, some were circked...
Mr. Lynes must have been very good at putting his models at ease, because they always look calm and natural unless the thematic intent of the piece was otherwise. Of course, many of these men were friends and proteges, so he had that advantage.
