1970s?
Our last shot from Fire Island looks like 1970's to me,but my notes only say
that it came from a retrospective piece on Fire Island beefcake and porn.
It is off Long Island, not too far from New York City, and it has been frequented by gays since at least the 1930s. It is mostly, but not entirely exclusively, visited by gays.
I have not visited for years but I have fond memories and meeting some really good people from all over the U.S. A friend from NYC suggested PTown many years ago and that become a much loved destination and continues to be. Thanks Jerry, this put me in the mood for sun and sand!
Good retrospective of the go-go sixties and the discoesque seventies on Fire Island. All the fun ended by the devastation of AIDS and the willful ignorance of Reagan and his ‘misadministration’ ….:)

DeleteIt must have been a glorious time to be there but then the shit hit the fan in the 80s. Sad. Thanks for this wonderful look backward.
