Walter Cartier by Stanley Kubrick
This one was a real find. Stanley Kubrick took this photo of Walter Cartier and an unknown companion in 1948 for Look magazine. Mr. Cartier was a prize fighter from Greenwich Village.
He was an extraordinary photographer as well as film maker. Pictures that told a story. The subject here seems more then happy to pose. Gorgeous smile!
As ever, great to see open showers. I recently did a tour of Arsenal FC's ground in London. This included the changing areas. I was surprised and very pleased to see that multi-million pound football players have open showers.

ReplyDeleteKubrick was indeed a genius. 2001: A Space Odyssey alone would have been enough to cement that statue.

ReplyDeleteWow! I'm also surprises that they would have open showers.
DeleteAnd me. So good to see. A large L-shaped area, with about 20 shower heads.
DeleteCould that possibly be his twin brother, Vincent? They did boxing exhibitions together.
ReplyDeleteInteresting thought, but I don't know.
