Mr. Jouleff seems to have a "thing" for oiled legs and maleness. But his models seem cheerful. The lighting does not bring out the oil on his chest, does it?
This photo seems slightly out of focus and unevenly lit. But it does have BD's favorite shadow. While not Douglas's best effort, he's better than most of the other physique photographers.
He does look a lot like the Martin photos in my files of Allen/Strong. That raises the interesting possibility that either the model or the photographer traveled between Detroit and the West Coast. Or maybe it's not even by Doug Juleff?

ReplyDeleteI agree that it's not one of Doug Juleff's technical best, but I really like it . . . and not just because it fit today's theme.
DeleteI believe this is Ross Allen (although Dave Martin named him Chuck Strong in a 1955 photo note).
