Factory Workers II

This expertly photographed  work even manages to catch the individual water droplets as they fly.
List did a whole series of these shower scenes in the late 1950s.

  1. Jerry, do you know if these males were paid to pose naked? Yes, they probably needed to shower after a day's work, but did List just walk in and start snapping? And did the men see the pictures to "approve" them? I am not a prude. If some guy came into the showers at the Y to speak to someone, fine. But if ha started snapping pictures...NO WAY.

    1. Interesting questions, and I don't have answers. I will say that the photos definitely don't look candid.

    2. I suspect that industrial shots were done with some permission. In that, "We've got a photographer from Life magazine coming in". As professionals, they would want the subjects to look natural. If you didn't want to be in shot, it would show in your body language.

    1. The cap is indeed odd. My best guess is that he didn't want his hair to get wet.
