Hairy all around

Although this guy doesn't have a whole lot of fur poking out from his jockstrap,
he maked up for it with all the hair elsewhere on his body.

  1. I wonder why this "study" had the males in straps rather than naked. Sudden burst of modesty?

    1. This study was done by the Navy while the others I've seen were Army and Ivy League projects. I've never known the Navy to be especially concerned about modesty during that era, so perhaps it had something to do with the fact that this one was done at a Catholic college they used for war training.

    2. I have 32 of these Navy photos from St. Mary's, all found on the Internet, and in all but one, the guys are naked – same grid, same poses, but naked. So it's not modesty on the part of the Navy or St. Mary's.

Your last photo is the only one I have with a jockstrap. My copy of the photo has his name (J. M. Walsh) and the date (Dec. 1, 1942). All the naked photos are dated June, 1942 or undated, so my guess is that they changed the rules between June and December, or it was an arbitrary decision by whoever ran the photo sessions.

    3. I just checked my files, and I do have about a dozen fully nude from this source. So Larry's right. Somebody changed the format for reasons unknown.

  2. He "maked" up for it? That's so cute. You know how much I love and respect you, so please forgive my grammatical teasing. These studies are all brilliant btw.
You never ceased to amaze. (see what I did there) xoxo

    1. Do I have spell check? Yes. Do I pay attention and use it? Apparently not. Glad you enjoyed the series.

  3. Nicely fitted jock. A hint of James Bond about him.

  5. Prints of these (or a different series) made from the original negatives were available for sale a decade or so ago. Sadly I bought only one.

    1. I've heard that these were circulating in the vintage print world, but they've become quite rare. One sees the Fort Sheridan fully nude series more often, fwiw. One would assume that both series were government property that somehow got diverted.

  7. I wish I could find the SOURCE of these leaked pics...
Apparently the leaks got plugged pretty quick, as only 20 or less are from Harvard, 30 or less from Army , etc.

    1. More seem to be turning up on auction and resale sites all the time, with the Ivy League type being the most rare in my experience. Sometimes collectors (or scavengers) with big inventory only release a little at a time to develop interest and keep prices up. I have about 50 Fort Sheridan army shots and slightly larger number from St. Mary's Naval Flight School. Only half a dozen Ivy League.
