Barrington Double Feature, Part 1 - Better quality nudes

I've found myself joining in the carping about the low quality of much of John Paignton Barrington's photo finishing, so I decided to give the guy a break and post a group of photos that are actually pretty good.  We start with Vic Haywood in an image from an obscure publication called Realm.

  1. The lighting here is cool. It...uh...shines a light on his great abs and irrefutable maleness. Plus, he is a handsome bastard.

    1. True, and you don't get this often with Barrington's work.

  2. Vic Haywood is a favourite of mine. Handsome guy, great physique and impressive package. Barrington took quite a few photos of Vic. This is definitely one of the better quality ones but with a guy this good all are worth looking out for.

    1. I agree that all of Mr. Haywood's photos are worth looking at, but this one stood out.

    2. Yes, this is an excellent photo of Mr Heywood ... just realised we've misspelt his surname. Apparently he was also a stuntman. Like Roy Scammell, he also pursued a career in mainstream showbusiness, although I haven't been able to find any further details of this.

    3. Interesting about the spelling. There are a lots of mistakes like all across the modeling business.

    4. A deeper involvement with John Barrington perhaps ?
He was photographed quite a bit by John.

  3. Vic is also a favourite of mine. Handsome, built and hung, yet something of the ordinary bloke about him I could imagine having a few pints with him. John's work, to me has a certain charm. More miss than hit, but the models always seem to be enjoying the session. Wider shots give an insight into John's lighting systems. Mentioned before, he was still active and local to me when a late teen. Boy do I wish I'd made that call. Number was in naturist magazine.

    1. I thing his "everyman" aspect is a big part of his appeal. I never would have been brave enough to even THINK of calling someone like him as a teenager, lol.

    2. Huge regret, who knows I might have been a featured model..

  4. I was too young to enjoy John Barrington’s work at the time, but I discovered Vintage Muscle Men, Men From Back Then and some of the other blogs through a friend, sadly no longer with us, who was a friend of John Barrington and introduced me to his work. As a result, I have taken an interest in his work and his fascinating life story and, for that reason, John Barrington is probably my favourite photographer and artist and Vic Haywood one of my favourite models.

    1. Barrington's life story goes into the "stranger than fiction" category.
