Gladiator

An unknown Roman sculpted this image of a gladiator during the Empire.
It was restored by Domenico Pieratti in 1635 from fragments found in a garden.
While he is a fine looking man, he isn't my stereotypical image of a gladiator.

  2. Really like this one. As you point out not the typical gladiator. There is an amazing gladiator at the Getty in LA. If I do really like this depiction. Very well done

    1. I've been wanting to go to the Getty for years. Perhaps I will soon.

  3. The head reminds me of an old statue of a centaur.
