This is one of those times when I just don't understand the cropping in an otherwise excellent photo. If Ferrero did this intentionally, I can't imagine why. If somebody came along later and did it, it's a travesty. Either way, I like the picture, but would like it more with a broader view.
The models are brothers Bud and Gerard Lanter.
I like these poses where the men are touching. It makes for a sense of male cameraderie and, more, male intimacy. I wonder how intimate these brothers were.
ReplyDeleteBrotherly incest is the most common form of incest within the immediate family, but it's usually boys similar in age, rarely continues long after puberty, and is typically "only" masturbation and other nonpenetrative sex, no oral or anal. But then, anal was rare among gay men during the physique era.
DeleteOn the flip side, there is significantly less psychiatric toll than from other forms of incest. But less doesn't mean none.
This is a lovely photo but it is rather spoilt by the cropping. The Lanter brothers were really good looking so it seems a shame to partially crop them out of the picture.

Lynes used cropping off body parts for artistic effect, and is usually turned out OK. I don't get it in this case, however.
