George Platt Lynes Day, Part 1 - Nudes

We are overdue for another George Platt Lynes series, and we start a double feature with this 1950 photo of Dick Beard leaning against a drop cloth with a halo around his left shoulder.

  1. Wow. The lighting is exceptional, but then, GPL was no rank amateur. Beard's body shows up splendidly.

  3. I agree; a George Platt Lynes series is always very welcome. Dick Beard is a handsome fellow and this picture is (stumbles to find the right word) ... ravishing.

A biography of Lynes (George Platt Lynes: The Daring Eye) by Allen Ellenzweig is due to be published by Oxford University Press next month. It may already have been published in the US. At 656 pages, it apparently includes detailed information on many of his models. I think I'll be treating myself to this as an early Christmas present.

    1. Peter, I can't thank you enough for informing us about this book. It is available for early ordering on Amazon, at least in the USA. I got a $5 courtesy discount and free shipping through Amazon Prime. Can't wait to read it!
