In this case, the art students and the models are one and the same.
Thomas Eakins took this photograph about 1885 in a teaching studio in Philadelphia.

Albert, Eakins used his students as nude models for his own paintings and also used them as models for the other students in the class who were learning to paint. It was a very efficient arrangement, but the school authorities were not happy with it.
