John
Ralph Kelly used a sword and a tiger skin as props in this posing strap photo of John Parish.
Mr. Parrish would have looked fine without the props, but their use was very widespread at the time. I think some of the photographers thought they added artistic legitimacy to their work . . . but sometimes they detracted from it. Not here, mind you. This one is great either way.
Sometimes I find the props mismatched and irrelevant. The lighting here goes across his groin, and across his torso, both of which are attractive.
