That look
Our final model appeared in a number of von Pluschow's photos, at least two of which follow
the palm frond motif. His piercing gaze seems to go right through the observer.
One has to keep in mind that at the time teenagers had not yet been invented. They came about in the 1920’s and even more in the 30’s as a result of the reduction of child labor to open up jobs for adults.
I don't know just what it is, Jerry, but something about this photographer's work disturbs me.

ReplyDeleteGood question. It would have been very, very early cinema, as I believe these were made in the late 19th C.
