Bruce of LA Day, Part 1 - Typical Nudes

Bruce of LA, aka Bruce Bellas, was certainly one of the best photographers who came out of the physique era of male nude photography, and thus is deserving of another double feature on this blog.  We start the show with Dick Dene, a furry fellow probably best known for a cowboy themed series Bruce did featuring him solo.  I remember reading somewhere that Dick had a bit part in From Here to Eternity, but I could find no references to such via several Google searches.  Anybody know?

  1. Très beau modèle poilu. Une chose m'étonne, son gland. Avait-il un prépuce court ou une circoncision mal faite? Je n'aperçois pas de plis comme sur un non circoncis.

Very beautiful hairy model. One thing surprises me, his penis. Did he have a short foreskin or a bad circumcision? I do not see any folds like on an uncircumcised.

    1. I can't tell. He is best known for a cowboy series he did for Bruce, and what you describe is not so easily visible in those pictures.

  2. It was the fur that first struck me when I saw this photo.

  3. During the 50s and 60s it was a fairly common practice for intact guys to be photographed with foreskins retracted so as to look more "American" since circumcision was so prevalent during those years - in one of my Dene photos it looks like his foreskin is pulled back and stretched just behind the glans - one of the Bruce pics from a magazine has a short bio that says he was born in the US but as a baby the family returned to Beirut, Lebanon where he grew up - as a teen he was interested in swimming, soccer, and the theater- it says that he returned to the states to "have a fling at a showbiz career" - so, unless the family was Muslim, he would not neccesarily have been circumcised at birth, or as a youth in Lebanon following the Muslim practice of circumcision children -

Your recent pics of Don Deckman showed the same inclination to foreskin retraction for photos - and I might add here that I'm still sad over learning of Mr. Deckman's passing - I've been enjoying his pics since the early 60s -

    1. Thanks for the bio on Dick Dene. I had no idea that he was Lebanese, but I do know that many Lebanese Christians are anti-circumcision. I learned this from a guy who took refuge in New Orleans on a student visa during the Lebanese Civil War in the 70's. Upon graduation, the unfortunate man relocated for a great job in Iraq just in time for the Iran-Iraq war, and I lost touch with him then.

  4. He is truly impressive on many levels. He does have a Hollywood presence. I suspect his foreskin in this pic is just natural. They come in all levels of coverage.
