Warrior Sculptures Day
I had a request for some male nude sculpture from Jack D. in Birmingham, Alabama,
so today we'll view some warriors in stone and bronze. We start with
Basil (Vasilios) Phalereus' 1955 statue of Leonidas.
I guess Jack has seen that one plenty of times. Having been there myself, I can say it's derriere is fine, if a bit hard to see up on that high pedestal.
All in all, pretty cool. Idealized bodies, classic-sized male organs.
ReplyDeleteOne or two approach normal size packages, but don't quite get there.
DeleteThat high arch of the torso is so impressive.
ReplyDeleteYou describe what I felt, but couldn't express in the caption. Thanks!
DeleteFor me, that is the key thing that attracts me to the male form.
DeleteThe emblem of the city , the Vulcan monument, should be here as well.
