Don Deckman Day, Part 1 - Nudes by Pat Milo

A viewer wrote me a note not long ago in praise of classic era physique model Don Deckman.  I heartily agree with his appreciation and realized that I had never given this great model his own series.  So our Wednesday double feature is all about Don.  We start with a photo that contradicts somewhat the heading that the nudes are all by Pat Milo.  This particular photo has been credited by some experts to Milo's partner Lyle Frisby.  The story goes that Lyle took the picture before his untimely death following abuse during his imprisonment for publishing male frontal nudes.  Milo is said to have printed the photo later, but it isn't clear if it was distributed, so I will credit both men.

  1. He has been a #1 favorite since the early posing strap days in the pocket size mags - I remember how exciting it was to finally see full frontals and find him uncut - he was the complete package as far as I was concerned - I wonder how he fared in life - I expect he be around 80 by now -

    1. Mr. Deckman passed away in Orange County, California in February of this year at age 84. His obituary was very short and did not mention his modeling. One of his ex-wives left a glowing on line tribute saying he was a great story teller as well as a good listener. She went on to describe him as a good father and a "man of grace in a time when there is so little of it." No career details mentioned in the obit, but I did find out that he played three years of minor league pro baseball at about the same time as his modeling career. Also, he was living on his own at age 17 in LA, working as a box boy at a grocery store. My other hobby is genealogy, and I used my search resources to learn all this.

    2. I really enjoyed this series. What a beautiful man Don Deckman was. Nice to read his biography too especially as so little information is available about many of the models featured.

    3. Glad you liked it. I try to sometimes impart the fact that these were real men with real lives, sometimes quite interesting.

    4. VMM -you have great site here. The details you provide on some of the models and photographers are amazing.
Lyle Frisby and many others suffered, all because some people
(busybodies) were offended at that time.
Lye Frisby died at just 29 years of age.

    5. Thank you for the compliment! Look for a "new" Lyle Frisby series in a couple of weeks. I'm working on it today.
