David Fitzen and James Schwertley waded into the shallow water of a pond for this Bruce photo.

  1. Cette photo est amusante. Le modèle de gauche à une belle bite et des petites couilles, l'autre c'est l'inverse. Le photograhe avait-il remarqué la différence? :-)

This photo is funny. The model on the left has a nice cock and small balls, the other is the opposite. Had the photographer noticed the difference? :-)

  3. I remember a few old timers that tried to explain to me about the hidden in plain sight messages in these older photos (before the 70's). They were adamant that if 2 guys were holding hands in these photos it meant they were "together", even if one (or both) were married. To be seen holding hands in an "art" photo was an act of bravery and defiance.

    1. Well, it surely was an act of bravery and defiance given the legal and social climate of the time, but any deeper meaning is anyone's guess. Holding hands probably just meant that the photographer told them to do it, and since he was paying, they did. I've seen some early 50's men holding hands naked where there was no visible emotional connection, but this one does seem different.

  4. A truly beautiful image. Tenderness between men is always nice to see. Here we also see them naked. Wonderful and rather moving.

  5. I googled James Schwertley as I didn’t recognize the name and found a priest who as a teen got into weightlifting, eventually won some physique titles and became a Priest while keeping up his weightlifting into his 70’s. I assume this James Schwertley is the same as pictured. I found an interesting bio on him. https://omaha.com/livewellnebraska/fitness/for-nebraska-priest-bodybuilding-was-the-best-habit-i-ever-had-except-for-going-to/article_0dcbf180-ee47-11e6-8d7f-83a63c5c8064.html

    1. Wow! I'm sure that's him. Other than the age being right and the resemblance of the photos, Bruce of LA, aka Bruce Bellas, had Nebraska connections. Bruce even made a return trip to Nebraska in the 50's and photographed some young men. James must have been one of them. David Fitzen was Mr. Utah of 1953. I'm not surprised the nude modeling didn't get mentioned in the newspaper story.

    2. If you have any more James Schwertley or know where to find them, it would be nice to see more of him.

    3. Yes, mofuman, I have four more and will post them at some point. Unfortunately, all of them seem to have been made in a single session, so the variation is not that much. Most of them feature him in combo with David Fitzen in that shallow pond.
