Most Popular, Part 1 - Posts rated Nos. 2 through 10

Every so often someone asks me to list either my own favorite posts or those of the viewers.
Thanks to Google Analytics, it isn't too hard to come up with a ranking of viewer favorites, so that will be the subject of our Sunday double feature.  In part one, we'll see the individual photos ranked from No. 2 to No. 10.  In part two, well see the No. 1 post and the series it appeared in, which was also top ranked.  Given the number of comments and "likes" that Playgirl models have garnered, it was no surprise to see Vanna White's ill-fated fiance Sam Jones in the No. 2 spot.
Edited to add:  Not Vanna's fiance.  See comments.

  1. I think you're confusing Sam Jones, pictured here, with John Gibson, an actor and Playgirl centerfold who was engaged to Vanna White and who died in a plane crash. Sam Jones appeared in Playgirl and also played the title role in the 1980 movie "Flash Gordon."

  2. This is fascinating. The shot of the lovely Mr Jones is nice, but to me it doesn't really fit in with your usual style. Gorgeous bush and cock though.

    1. Yes, I was also surprised, but these are viewer favorites, not mine. I do like this one, however, and I make a point of posting photos I don't like from time to time to keep things interesting.

  3. For a minute or so I was asking myself "Vanna & Sam...really? How did I miss that? Sam was on my list of "Favorite Penises of Playgirl." OK...it wasn't actually a written list but you know what I mean.

A personal note: I was one of those gay men who paid money to see Sam in the 1980 film Flash Gordon. For most of the movie Sam wore a red wife-beater -- until he had to rip if off to fight someone. I like to think the director (Mike Hodges) did the shirtless scenes because he knew I would be sitting in the theatre counting the minutes until we could see Sam's incredible chest.

    1. I went to see that movie for two reasons, Sam and being a Sci-Fi fan. Sam was fine, but I left theater with a crush on Brian Blessed, the flying bear Prince Vultan. As a Sci-Fi movie in the initial Star Wars era, it left quite a bit to be desired, though. Top notch producer Dino De Laurentis tried to make it funny, and it ended up being a campy cult classic. I still watch it from time to time.

  4. The movie was not much good, but there was a lot of nice eye candy in it--that is why I also still watch it occasionally. And Sam's picture spread in one of the special issues kept me entertained many times (too bad I threw those magazines away).

    1. I was already a collector of vintage photos (19th C., mostly) when I threw away my old Playgirl issues around 1990. Now they're considered vintage. Oh, well . . .

  5. Never been much of a Sam Jones fan, but this is probably his best photo ever. My (mostly) straight friends had to drag me to a midnight show of "Flash Gordon" because of the high camp factor. Still not that much fun.

  6. I've always thought he looked kind of surly in the pics from this shoot.

  7. You're both right, he had the reputation for being a PITA (pain in the ass) actor. I'm pretty sure that he didn't work on and reputable projects after "Flash ". There's another rumor that he was dishonorably discharged from the military (like Ryan Idol).
