Angular Models . . . when random isn't random.

OK, so this series started out to be one of my "Random Beefcake" sets from my non-curated files.
The first one that came up, however, was this guy who was labeled only "angular."
Of course that led down a rabbit hole, and the whole series will be that way.

  1. Look at those abs! The pose is perfect for this male, and the light subtly focused on his body. Plus, he's handsome and well-endowed...The pic is a stunner! Thanks, Jerry!

    1. Yes, it was the abs that first drew me to this one, and then I noticed the angle.

  2. Wow! If you'd only posted this one photo today, Jerry, I'd have been more than happy. This is stunning. I'm guessing that you don't have any more information on the photographer or model?

The model is really handsome and has a fantastic physique. I love the angle of this shot and the way the model fills the frame. I'm intrigued too by the way that his balls are hanging at different angles. Great photo.

    1. I agree. There's a lot going on, and it ranges from interesting to amazing.

  3. Clicking on the 9th thumbnail down brings up the Kurt Loder entry instead -

    1. Fixed it. For some reason Google Blogger doesn't like question marks in the headers. Sheesh!

  4. On this image, Jerry, you can do a touchdown dance. In fact, this entire series is a division win.

  5. I'm surprised no-one's mentioned that this is Fred Ritter (of the famous Ritter brothers).

    1. I don't have this one in my Ritter collection, but it certainly looks like him.

  6. Wow. That is stunning. It does have a Ritter brothers vibe. He is also fairly mature, which I always enjoy.

    1. I'd love to have a date on this one. The Ritters dropped out of sight in the 1940s, and even my genealogical sources have come up dry. (I really want to do a "whatever happened to" series.) You'd be amazed how many folks with those names lived in the NYC area back then . . . and now.

    2. I'd love to know more about the Ritter brothers but there is barely any information out there about them. They really should be known and recognised more for their pioneering work in physique photography and for paving the way for later photographers of the male nude. That they were magnificent models themselves is clearly evident from the many photos we are lucky to have access to. Looking back at some of the photos of them taken by GPL I'm amazed at their beauty and daring, in particular the photo of William (I think) laying nude on top of Fred that you published a few years ago. Bold and magnificent.

    3. Peter, what little we know is based on snippets from stories and memoires having to do with other models and photographers. One thing stands out, and I've probably mentioned it before. The brothers had an uncanny ability to talk other good looking gym patrons into go home with them to be photographed nude.

    4. Thanks Jerry. I do recall reading about the brothers sweet talking gym patrons into going home with them to be photographed. Lucky gym patrons!

One of the many disappointments in that weighty Lynes biography is that there is no real reference to or photographs of the brothers. The only mention is of "the languid sensual body contact of the reclining Ritter brothers" in a section on Lynes private work with the male nude in the early 1930s.

    5. Peter, that biography was a huge disappointment. It is so obtuse that I haven't been able to finish it and have no desire to do so.
