Australians I

In the first of two photos of Royal Australian Navy men,
we have an officer and three enlisted men.

  1. Among strong competition, this is probably my favourite photo in today's series, in no small part due to the two sailors on the right. They are both extremely attractive guys and the authenticity (i.e. real sailors) makes it even more delightful.

    1. The officer looks like he was a nice fellow, but the three sailors far outshine in in sex appeal.

  2. These are Australian petty officers. The cap bears HMAS (His/Her Majesty's Australian Ship - but given how long the late Queen was on the throne, it is most probably Her Majesty's Australian Ship. The name of the ship is obscured. Queen's Regulations followed those of the UK, and so only a "full set" beard was permitted for all ranks above rating, equivalent of "Seaman Apprentice" in the US Navy.

    1. Interesting. The U.S. Navy no longer allow beards on active duty sailors. Something about gas masks not fitting properly.
