Lounging

Our last Circle of Eakins photo shows four models lounging on the studio floor.
Whether this group of photos was made by Eakins, his students, his associates, or some
combination of them, they are extraordinary works of photographic art.

  1. As "arty" as these pictures seem to be, they do concentrate on the male body, and as such, I like them. They reflect the times when males could be unashamedly naked around one another. We need to return to that, but the way things are headed in this country, I fear we are headed for more repression, suppression and oppression where "modesty" is concerned.

    1. May I second that. The idea that a group of male art students would spend part of their degree modelling for each other and their tutor is wonderful. As you say Jerry, extraordinary works of photographic art. A record of a period when this was normal. Have we really progressed?

  2. Thank you for a wonderful series here, Jerry! I've long admired the work of Eakins (and his students, possibly unwittingly). The natural ease with which these fellows are naked together is delightful and wonderful. I agree, too with the sentiments aready expressed regarding the puritanical regression the US (and other western nations) is experiencing currently. Thanks again, Jerry. You bring joy to many fellows with your beautifully curated blog. Long may it continue!

  3. Really great series! Love it. And seeing so much many of these for the first time. Incredible. Appreciate you putting this all together. And sharing. I know I will keep coming back.
