Octet


Our largest group of the day features eight Americans with a wide variety of beard styles.

  1. Only a "full set" - i.e. full beard with moustache - is allowed in the Royal Navy. It has been difficult to establish the historical record, but in the US Navy, only a full set seems only to have been permitted for uniformed sailors. I think, therefore, that these gents must have been in the merchant marine.
