Steam locomotives required a lot of water, and the first photo in our series shows how soldiers
would take advantage of a water stop to bathe. I later found out that this picture was cropped from
a larger one, for what reason I can't imagine. The cropped out guy was quite nice looking.
It's interesting that this shows a soldier. I read somewhere that hobos used these railroad water tanks for bathing purposes.
