Charles Kassapian
A 1955 photo of Charles Kassapian completes our Arax of Paris series.
Kassapian et Arax/Krikor Djololian de héritage de l’Arménie. Arax survived the genocide of Armenians in Turkey and opened his studio in 1922, first as a portrait photographer and then as a physique photographer, he died in 1975. Natural talent for the caméra, Armenians were the principal portrait studio photographers throughout the Middle East before and after Ww1, and many still are. Patris, the son of Arax, shares the photographic legacy of his father to this day. Great photo séries, so generous :)
The oiled shots even work, since they aren't dripping with it.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time Arax knew when to stop with the oil.

Thank you for your kind words and for reminding us of Arax' background.
DeleteSeems a rarity to see an Armenian model! And, he's a handsome one.
