I don't know how this one strayed from my early 20th Century strong man/wrestler file, 

but it ended up among the strays.  The well built gentleman is Roger Francois.

Crotch Hold

This last item is from an early 20th Century instuctional manual for aspiring wrestlers.  Yes, they gave step by step instructions on how to get a man by the crotch, something most of my viewers 

probably already know.  Looks like they're getting a smooch at the same time.

A French physical education review used this photo,

but it was made by Helios in Munich in 1907.

Our theme today is jockstraps, and we start with an early

 20th Century man in white gladiator sandals.

 "The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize," 

said Clairee Belcher in Steel Magnolias.  This guy got the memo and added 

leather wrist bands to his gladiator sandals and jockstrap.  Tres chic.
