European Photographer Day

Today we look at eleven European photographers' work,

starting with this unknown by Frenchman Bob Harvest.

 

Bob Harvest

In the first of two photos in today's set contributed by Brian E., we see Claude Petro Saba as photographed by Bob Harvest, aka Bob Hernandez.  If this seems to resemble the work of Jean Ferrero, it's probably because the two men worked in the same region with overlapping model pools.

 

Bernard Naceri Day

I decided Bernard Naceri needed another series, so here it is.  

He looks great here, but the volleyball net is too low.

The vintage resale site were I found this said it way by Bob Harvest.

 

Nudist?

The volleyball and net make me think this is one of the Bob Harvest nudist photos for which 

Bernard Naceri posed.  I mean, with volleyball, one's mind has to go straight to nudists.

 

Harvest

Michel Belloucy gives us the old rope tug in this Bob Harvest (aka Robert Hernandez) photo.

I always thought it odd that Bob was a Frenchman who Anglicized his Spanish surname.

As for Mr. Belloucy, he gives an impression of being Algerian.  Now we're all mixed up.

 

Bob Harvest

Bob Harvest, aka Robert Hernandez, worked in France during the 1960s photographing bodybuilders and nudists.  (As you will see, there was some crossover between those groups.)  He used some of the same models as the better known Jean Ferrero, and my collection of his work is very limited.  I would appreciate it if anyone with additional photos by Harvest would pass them along.  As always, you will be credited if I post them.  We start with two similar poses by Charles Treard.

This is the first of two mixed gender nudist photos in today's series provided by Larry K. 

Bob Harvest also did some solo shots of women to diversify his portfolio.

 

Claude

I posted this photo of Claude Pedro Saba a year and a half ago as unknown, and Brian E. helpfully identified him.  Later, I learned the picture was by Harvest, so here he is again.  That beautiful smile alone is worth another look, but the body adds even more interest.

 

Michel

Michel Belloucy did a lot of modeling work for Bob Harvest, and this 

color shot provided by Bryan B. is a personal favorite.  Thanks, Bryan!

 

Pierre

Pierre Bacquet appears here in a posing strap.  It was legal to photograph full frontal nudity 

in France at the time this was made, but perhaps Mr. Harvest had hope of getting some 

of his work in mainstream publications that did not want to to that far.

 

Mixed singles

Bob Harvest not only included women in some of his nudist work, but he also used men who didn't appear to be competitive bodybuilders as was his usual practice.  This guy is handsome and in good shape, but he doesn't fit the usual physical culture stereotype of the time.

Gymnastics Day

Today is Gymnastics Day, and we start the show with Claude Pedro Saba,

probably photographed by Bob Harvest at a French nudist resort.

 

This is Georges Lambert as photographed by Bob Harvest, who was a Frenchman despite the fact that he used an English tradename and had Hernandez for his actual surname.

As any of you who have followed this blog for any length of time already know, we can always 

count on my friend and collaborator Larry K. to provide some interesting photo submissions 

and guest series.  Today, I am posting a series by a "new" French photographer, Bob Harvest, aka Robert Fernandez.  It's very rare that I come across a good physique photographer of whom I 

have never heard, so I had to do an extended feature for this one.  I'm still looking for 

biographical information, but it seems Mr. Harvest was best known for his photos of 

naturists and bodybuilders.  Today, it's the latter, starting with Georges Lambert 

kneeling on a curbstone at the edge of some woods.  Many thanks to Larry K. for

nine out of ten of today's photos.  Yes, I found one on my own and included it.

 

Bob Harvest took this photo of Bernard Naceri in a posing strap.

I posted a photo of Bernard nude at a naturist campground not too long ago.

 

Samson Beltai was a bodybuilder who posed for 

Bob Harvest in what appears to be an autumn woodland.
