Joe Weber Day

I've been doing some photo files housekeeping lately, and that has caused me to do full series on the work of photographers whose work has only appeared sporadically up to now.  Today it's Joe Weber's turn, and we begin with the first of five unknown models.

Arthur Turgeon

Here we have Arthur Turgeon, a staff, and a modernist sculpture.

Unknown II

Joe Weber used lighting to great effect in quite a few photos,
and this one of an unknown model is a good example.

Earl Brockell

If Earl Brockell didn't win any awards for his physique, he should have.

Unknown III

Our third unknown of the set gives us a nice derriere view.

Kurt Lewis

Kurt Lewis was a frat boy at the University of Florida when Joe Weber photographed him.

Unknown IV

Despite the blur, the lighting in this photo of an unknown is rather good.

Hans Thomann

The magazine in which this photo of Hans Thomann
provided some interesting biographical facts.

Unknown V

The fifth unknown model of the series is one I'd really like to see more of.

Zdenek Routa

Joe Weber took photos of a number of well regarded bodybuilders, and our last photo is of one of them, Zdenek Routa.  Mr. Routa not only appeared in Mr. Weber's beefcake publications, but also in several premier bodybuilder magazines, sometimes as photographed by others.

Joe Weber

Paul Chandler is the model for our second Flandrin inspired
photo of the set.  The photographer was Joe Weber.

Joe Weber Unknown

Those of you who like them lean may appreciate this sinewy unknown
photographed by Joe Weber.  Up next, part two with all AMG men.

Joe Weber

I borrowed this one from James over at Men From Back Then .
It's a beautiful Joe Weber photo of Bill Grant and some shag carpet.
Thanks, James!

Five with Fishnets

Today I'm featuring five different models with fish net props by five different physique photographers.  Those of  you of a certain age may remember fish nets as a cliche
of uninspired interior decorators in the 1960's.  This is Jerald Reed by Joe Weber.
