Today we will look at some men in gym shorts who all appear to be involved in sports. We start with an unknown French runner on the starting line of what looks like a cross country race.

Detroit Lions
Three rookies for the 1956 Detroit Lions posed for this photo.
I know some of you like white T-shirst with gym shorts, so enjoy.
Bemidji State U
From the chilly lakes of Northern Minnesota, we have the Bemidji State University wrestling team
from 1956. Hopefully, they kept each other warm on those cold winter nights.
Thighs
Although he's obviously kitted out for some outdoor sport, I have no info on this one.
I do, however, have to comment on those prodigious thighs.
French Ruggers
These three are French rugby league players Gèrard Cholley,
Alain Paco, and Robert Paparemborde from the late 1970s.
Mr. Cholley looks like he had a rough game.
Stop action
As the sports photographer for my high school yearbook,I really appreciate
the difficulty of this stop action basketball shot. The men aren't bad, either.
Florida State 1963
And last, but not least, we have some Florida State football players from 1963.
They are all nice, but the guy at right is special. Must be those legs.

The U.S. Olympic field events team in the1920s featured a number of Irish-American "bruisers."
Pat Ryan, above, was a gold medalist in the hammer throw.

Gym Shorts Day
It's gym shorts day, and no, our first photo is not the 1978 bar backs from the Marlin Beach Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. They are rugby players Billy Smith, Graeme Langlands, and Henry Tatana.
Hunk
Just a hunch, but I'm guessing this hunk did the shot put
for a college that started with the letter C.
Estonians?
My source says these are 1922 Estonian athletes, but the names sound Russian and German. Then I recalled that over the centuries a sprinkling of Germans, Russians, and Swedes had settled there.
Clone Prototype?
For a brief moment I thought I'd found the prototype for the 1970s gay clone look,
but then I noticed he lacked the obligatory gym socks with color bands at the top.
Still, I think he would have been a hit in the clubs.
