Wrestlers

Today's theme is wrestlers, mostly early 20th Century.  These two look like they are hugging,
but I found them described as wrestlers on a reputable website.

Sumo still

This sumo shot was taken in the days before they became elephant sized.

Observer

Not that many of you would notice (or care),
but these two have an observer.

Beef

Mmmmmm . . . beef.

Nice muscles

Nice muscles in this one.

Sumo Movie

This movie clip of sumo wrestlers has a watermark, but some of you may find it interesting.

No date

I have no information on this, not even a date.  When I did an image search, some works
by Edmond Desbonnet came up, but it doesn't really look like his work.

No pants?

Is it just me, or does the guy up top look like he has no pants on?

Heid or Igout?

I've seen this 1880s item attributed to both Herman Heid and Louis Igout.

Crotch Hold

This last item is from an early 20th Century instuctional manual for aspiring wrestlers.  Yes, they gave step by step instructions on how to get a man by the crotch, something most of my viewers
probably already know.  Looks like they're getting a smooch at the same time.

Bemidji State U

From the chilly lakes of Northern Minnesota, we have the Bemidji State University wrestling team
from 1956.  Hopefully, they kept each other warm on those cold winter nights.

Jaan Jaago

The fellow facing us is yet another great Estonial strong man and wrestler, Jaan Jaago.
The photo is said to have been made in Russia about 1913.

Care and Training of Pets

Jerry's tips on the care and training of pets . . .

Six years ago I posted this photo of French wrestler Bayard and said that I was sure that with the proper care and training he would make a fine house pet.  Well, today I am posting an advice column for those of you who might need some help in that department.  A certain Viking I know probably doesn't need any tips in this regard, but might enjoy the series nonetheless.

Simple Solution

Something as simple as a medical exam can often resolve behavioral problems in pets.
When Dutch Savage had difficulty finding a new home, it was discovered that he
had sat on a broken beer bottle during a recent riot at one of his matches.
Fortunately, his impressive hairy glutes were not permanently damaged.

Kennel Cage

Sometimes an extra large kennel cage is a solution, at least in the short run.
I'm not sure if it's Ivan Putsky or his fans who are caged here, however.
That's a situation that could have easily gone either way.

Not really aggressive

Sometimes what appears to be agression is simply the way a pet has of masking fear.
After a few minutes of sweet talking and heavy petting, this guy was gentle as a lamb.

Graduation Gift

Upon arrival at Helga Hottenstotter's Academy of Discipline in Stuttgart,
Dirty Dutch Mantel took so diligently to the curriculum that he
was awarded the coveted Golden Whip upon graduation.
He went on to found the Memphis branch of HHAD.

Pairs can be better

It is often a good idea to keep a pair of pets instead of a single one.  That way they can play with and pet each other when you are at work or out running errands.  It's also nice to have fun activities with both of them at the same time, if you know what I mean.  Bruiser and Crusher here are a good example, and I believe this the third time they've appeared on the blog.  I must like them.

Caution!

Caution is always advisable when dealing with surly human pets.
You never know what he might be holding behind his back, so
be sure to keep a box of donuts on hand as a distraction.
The wrestler is Jim Londos, by most accounts a nice guy.
