What effect?

I don't know if this is a partial solarization technique or just some

 really great lighting, but it produced a fantastic image.

Troy Saxon Day

Today is Troy Saxon Day, and we start the show with a dramatically lighted photo of Jimmy South.  Mr. Saxon, whose real name was Stuart "Pinky" Rosenberg, started as a model on a spring break trip to California from the Midwest and then went on to be a photographer himself.

 

Female Photographers

Women artists have long had an appreciation for the male nude.  Today we will look at some photos by female artists made between 1922 and 1986.  If any of you have more photos by these talented women, please contact me as I would love to do some individual series featuring their work.  We start with a very well lighted and posed work by Dianora Niccolini.

 

Different version

The last image in today's George Platt Lynes series is from the same photo shoot as a similar

 picture I posted five years ago.  This one has the model tilted more to the side.

 

Nice lighting

I really like the lighting in this photo,

even if the package is somewhat obscured.

even though the scan isn't very good.

 shot of an unknown (to me, anyway) model.
