Looks familiar

This handsome fellow looks familiar to me, but I can't place him,
and neither could Google Images Search.

Working boy? No.

Someone posted this handsome young man on a popular viewer posted bulletin board type website.  They described him as a "Black Escort," and I tucked the picture away in one of my mystery files instead of my working boy file.  Perhaps I had an inkling that the label wasn't accurate because when I did some searches while preparing this set, I learned that he was a respectable resident of Bermuda in the 1890s.  Perhaps the bulge threw the bulletin poster off track.

Bruce II

I really hope someone knows the name of this handsome African-American model
who worked for Bruce.  Even if you don't have a name, more photos would be nice.

Part 2 - Black Men

For part two of Men of Color Day, we have some fine African-American models.
Lon of New York took this photo of George Paine.

Herny Jones

The picnic table might give some of you ideas when you see this Bruce of LA photo of Henry Jones.

Fred Demus

The posing strap only detracts a little from the fine looking Fred Demus by Bruce.

Ronnie Moore

This is Ronnie Moore by Don Whitman of Western Photography Guild.

Jerry Tucker

The last African-American model in the series is Jerry Tucker photographed by Dave Martin.  Tomorrow it's hairy physique models.

African

I find this African model to be quite impressive.
Disclosure:  I removed severe yellowing from the image.

Black Models Day

A few weeks ago, I posted a few photos of African-American models, and more than one viewer commented and/or sent me messages asking for more.  So today we will do ten black models by ten different photographers, starting with a 1954 photo of Bill Brown by Miles Everett.

George Paine

When we talk about pioneers of racial equality in physique photography, Alonzo Hanagan, aka Lon of New York, goes right to the top of the list.  Starting in the late 1930s, he began to take pictures of black men, portraying them in exactly the same dignified way he did whites.  He also recruited Latino models, doing some of his best work with them.  Above we see George Paine.

Lewis Williams

Corrugated metal backdrop?  Check.  Diamond pattern grass floor rug?  Check.  Handsome model perched on a classic posing fixture?  Check.  Must be Bruce Bellas, aka Bruce of LA.
Our model is Lewis Williams.

Robert Deckard

Robert Deckard is one of my favoite AMG models,
and we see him here taking his turn in that notorious shower.

Arthur

Third World Studio was a Chicago outfit that specialized in men of color from 1976 to 1981.
Its founder, James Jaeger, was murdered by one of his models.  This handsome TWS model
was known only as Arthur, and to the best of my knowledge, was not the murderer.

Arthur Harris

Al Urban produced an exceptional visual effect in this photo of Arthur Harris.
The oil he used makes Mr. Harris look like a highly polished black marble scultpure.

Brad Leatherwood was a late 70s into the 80s gay porn star who workde for Adam and Company, Bacchus, and Arrow Productions.  This promo still is far more tasteful than anything
else I could find among the VHS tape cover photos of him on the internet.

Ronnie Moore

Don Whitman of Western Photography Guild took this photo of Ronnie Moore for one of his "at home" picture sets.  Mr. Whitman was a real class act of a man who happily photographed black men and encouraged them in their bodybuilding pursuits in the Denver area and elsewhere.

Bill Edwards

Davis Martin took this photo of Bill Edwards on a trip to saguaro country.
Mr. Martin didn't photograph a huge number of African-American men,
but when he did, he did it very well.

Jamaica

Like almost all of Sierra Domino Studio's models, this one went by a single name, Jamaica.
The man behind this excellent studio was Craig T. "Calvin" Anderson.
