Motorcycle Day, Part 2 - The Men of Satyrs MC

By virtually all accounts, the Satyrs Motorcycle Club of Los Angeles is the oldest continuously active gay organization in the United States.  Founded in 1954, this group of men started as a simple social group and eventually became part of the Gay Rights movement.  Today I salute them.
This photo of two men and a bike at a 1950's rural California location is my personal favorite
from the Satyrs MC photo archive.  There's something almost heroic about them just being
who they were at that moment in time.  Never, ever forget how far we've come thanks to these brave men and so many others who started us on the road to freedom and equality.

The club members staged some pretty impressive gatherings over the years,
and I think this one was from the late 1960's.  Disclosure:  I cropped this image
of  shirtless Satyrs MC men from a larger and confusingly busy photo.

You denim fans will no doubt appreciate this classic photo of a Satyrs MC member.
Not only were these guys a very early gay organization, but they were stereotype busters as well.

At first glance, I thought this photo showed some guys jousting on motorcycles, but on closer examination, I think he's trying to knock off that thing on the end of the stick in the ground.
The Satyrs have maintained a busy list of activities for 65 years now.
