Wyngate & Bevins - MALE Paradise

Today we look at 1967's MALE Paradise, a Wyngate & Bevins "nudist" magazine.  While the men inside might have enjoyed being naked, they were in all likelihood models and not actual practicing nudists. I don't have the entire publication because I found these images on a resale website as a sampler of the content.  The cover man shows up later fully exposed.

Inside front cover

Here we see a jumble of images with samples representing a few of the various photo spreads
inside the magazine.  This was a typical preview page usually seen on the inside front cover.

Page 3

I think this is a typical Wyngate and Bevins page three layout.
It's a rather nice photo, imho.

Cover Man I

This is the full monty version of the front cover.  It wasn't at all unusual for covers to have obstructed packages only to show the full thing somewhere inside the magazine.  Things hadn't quite loosened up enough in 1967 to allow nudity to be shown on the newstand racks.

Coverman II

Here we see the cover man in black and white.  He turns up later in a centerfold.

Biology Class, Part 1

We're supposed to believe that these three students from a college botany class were given an assignment to find a rare lichen.  And they just happened to all three be nudists.  They look
more like gardeners to me, but fwiw, there are lichens that grow underground.

Here we have page two of the lichen hunt.

Solo

This unknown model got a solo spread.  These are facing pages, and the one at right has a color overlay.  I did some poking around, and it turned out not to be a faded color image.

Centerfold?

This might have been a centerfold . . . or just a two page photo.
The weight being lifted is not very challenging, btw.

There may have been more than these photos of two models on a rocky slope.
Or was it a beach?  The teaser layout had only this page and no text.

Back Cover

Although my source didn't explicitly label it as such,
I think this is the back cover of Male Paradise.

Bert Callinder . . . with a little help from my friends

A few weeks ago I posted a photo of Bert Callinder and lamented the lack of derriere shots of this fine model.  Well, with a little help from my friends, I got some "new" images of him.  Cambria provided the BobCo (Bob Carr) studio shot above, and Brian E. sent me the group shot from behind below.  That's Bert on the left and one of the other guys is Jimmy Smith.  This may be a Wyngate & Bevins "nudist" photo, in which case the photographer could have been Bob Mizer of AMG.

Wyngate and Bevins

I don't know the specific publication, but I'm pretty sure
this is from a Wyngate and Bevins "nudist" magazine.

Mr. Sun

Mr. Sun, Volume 1, Number 2, December of 1966

Thanks to the generosity of viewer jstrand of Texas, I recently received some amazing scans of 1960s magazines, many being the "nudist" types published by Wyngate and Bevins.  Today I am posting in it's entirety the second issue of Mr. Sun.  For organizational purposes and convenience, I have broken some of the longer articles into two parts.  For some reason, W&B didn't number the pages in this one, but I'm reasonably certain that jstrand scanned them in perfect order.  I'm making only minimal comments, so feel free to make your own.  You will no doubt recognize several of the supposed nudists as popular models of their time.

My sincerest thanks to jstrand for his generosity!

Thoreau . . . High Priest of Nature

The article below is a bit of a rarity in that it does not have photos of nude men taking up more space than the actual text.  In fact, there are no nude photos at all, just a pleasant essay on Thoreau.

Why I Became a Nudist, Part 1

What follows is the second of three lengthy articles I split into parts.  This one is a nudist's story of how he got into the lifestyle, and the two parts were separated in the original magazine by the centerfold, which I have also posted separately between two halves.

Centerfold

This photo or one from the same shoot has probably appeared on this blog before.
