Londe/Richer

This is from the 1890s collaboration of Londe and Richer.  I love the rings off to the side
and find myself wondering if the stunningly handsome model had any clue that he would
gain a form of immortality by posing nude while exercising.  Something tells me
that he would be pleased to know we marvel over him to this day.

Homosexual

This "homosexual with virile bodily development" appeared on a website that described it as mid-20th Century.  I suppose some publisher may have gotten away with it in a medical text, but I don't know where in the English speaking world this could have been safely published before 1967.

East German Textbook, 1982

These three photos are from page 177 of East German Professor Gottfried Bamme's 1982 textbook in anatomy for artists.  The East Germans were surprisingly easy going when it came to nudity in art or naturist clubs, but they would shoot to kill if you tried to leave the country.

19th Century Day

We're visiting the 19th Century today, beginning with this anatomical photo by an unknown photographer.  The same model from a different angle will appear at the end of today's series.

Anatomical II

As promised, here is the match to the first photo in today's set to close things out.

Anatomical 2368

This almost classically posed photo is from an anatomical series Mr. Londe produced.

Anatomical 2367

I have what I presume to be only a partial collection of this series of Mr. Londe's anatomical photos.  I say that because I only have numbers 2359, 2360, 2367, and 2368.  Numbers 2361 through 2366 are probably out there somewhere, but I haven't been able to find them.

Richer Collaboration

Although it's a well known fact that Mr. Londe and Prof. Paul Richer worked together
on a number of occasions, this twofer is one of the best documented as such.

Anatomical 2359

Anatomical photo 2359 shows something that just about every gym class includes.

Now attributed

I think I've posted this anatomical photograph in the past,
but I only recently learned that it was by Mr. Londe.

Anatomical 2360

Anatomical photo 2360 shows a kneeling position.

Anatomical

This one reminds me of Paul Richer's anatomical stuidies,
but the source did not identify it as such.

Outlier

This one may have been an exeriment or test because
there's nothing else like it my Richer collection.

Plaster

In addition to everything else he did, Paul Richer was a competent sculptor.
This is a plaster model he did as an anatomical demonstration piece,
but I will post some of his artistic work in a future series.

Anatomical

Paul Richer was an excellent illustrator for anatomical texts as seen here.

1892

This 1892 photo is not part of a sequential motion study, but it has to do with the anatomical depiction of muscles during motion.  Albert Londe did both sosrts of photographs.

Drawing

This anatomical drawing was based on one of Londe's photos.

Anatomical proof

This is said to be an unused proof for an anatomical textbook illustrated by Paul Richer.

Drawing

Paul Richer was an accomplished artist, as demonstrated by this anatomical drawing of a male torso from behind.  Some of those, as here, are pleasingly artistic, while others ger very technical with exposed veins, muscles, and bones.  If there is nterest, I will post more.

Anatomy Day

It's Anatomy Day, and we start with another entry from a communist era Czech book.
