The last post of the series isn't the best shot of John Winship,but it is just about the only frontal 

of him that I have not previously posted.  The photographer was Denny Denfield.

Our last favorite model is John Winship, and I chose this AMG posing strap photo 

because I've long since posted all the full frontals I have of him.

Although some collectors list this photo of John Winship as unattributed,I have recently 

come across some believable documentation that it is by Denny Denfield.

John Winship never fails to look outstanding,

and this Kovert number is no exception.

John Winship's outstanding modeling work is generally dated to the late 1940s through the mid-50s.  He is generally believed to have worked for Bob Mizer of AMG, Kovert of Hollywood, Pat Milo, and Denny Denfield.  The fact that all those great photographers worked with him should tell you something.  The man was good, very good.  So today he gets his own overdue series starting with this studio shot by Pat Milo.  As you will see, he looks fantastic indoors or out.

 

AMG Beef

What we have here is one beautiful slab of pure beef.  By AMG.

 

Soap?

Is that a bar of soap he's picking up?  If so, the cloth floor covering doesn't fit.

Seriously though, Mr. Winship's muscles are displayed beautifully in this unattributed photo.

 

Skiing

Now this is one of my favorite John Winship pictures.  It's brilliantly staged by Bob Mizer and brilliantly acted out by John, who looks like he knows how to have fun at work.

 

Kovert

This is reputably said to be by Kovert of Hollywood, and it certainly 

looks like Freddy Kovert's style.  Yet somehow I have my doubts.

I have to confess to liking this AMG photo of these two better than the frontal nude which follows.

That's Rocky McCorkle out front, and he looks pretty good.

Here we see John and Rocky in the Joshua trees without their pants on.  Two man tug of war?

Even though we can't see all of it, John Winship's back impresses in this unattributed photo.

 

Play time

A beaming John Winship seems to be threatening Bob Mizer with a playful splash in this AMG photo.  I love it when the models are obviously having fun, and I'll bet Mizer was, too.

 

Unknown photographer

This handsome picture is from a group I found with no photographer listed.  Please use the comments to help me out if you know.  It's an unusual pose, and that might help.  It really shows off his fine form.

 

No hat, no boots . . . but

OK, he has no hat and not boots, but I can't help getting a cowboy groove 

on from this AMG picture.  And that smile?  Oh, Lordy, what a smile.

 

Milo again

Closing the John Winship special with another photo generally attributed to Pat Milo.

I may do another series on him at some point, but be forewarned . . . I've used all the full 

frontal photographs I have of Mr. Winship either today or in previous scattered postings.

Still, I suppose few would complain about a few repeats with some "new" posing strap shots.
