Lyle Frisby Day

Today I'm presenting ten photos by Lyle Frisby in alphabetical order by the model's surname.
We start the show with Neal Carlson in a competition flex.

Dale Curry

This Lyle Frisby photo is one that I recently found while trolling resale websites.  It's interesting in that it was both new to me and an example where we can see that a drawn on posing strap was rubbed off by the original purchaser.  Also, he didn't bother to rub off the waist string.

Hank Evans Solo

Lyle Frisby left some photographic equipment in the margins of this solo shot of Hank Evans.

Hank Evans and Ed Haley

This photo of Hank Evans and Ed Haley was of a style that was on the way out when it was made.
Other than the touching knees and loosely interlocked arms, they hardly relate to each other.

Ed Haley Solo

Ed Haley stretched out on the floor for this one.

Bob Jones

This is Bob Jones and his big rope.

Norman Robins

Here we have Norman Robins hefting a broken Classical column.  I've seen this photo
attributed to Pat Milo, but current thinking is that it was taken by Lyle Frisby
before his death and printed afterward by Mr. Milo.

Paul Stewart

Closing out the Lyle Frisby set with a rather tentative looking Paul Stewart.

Lyle Frisby Day

Today I am featuring ten photos by Lyle Frisby, a promising photographer whose life was cut short at age 28 by leukemia.  Although that was almost always a fatal diagnosis in the 1950s, Lyle's death was no doubt hastened by the poor medical care and overall ill treatment he experienced while imprisoned for distributing male nude photos.  Pat Milo ran the business end of Mr. Frisby's studio, and some say they were lovers.  I don't know about that last bit, but Mr. Milo went on to be a great photographer himself.  We start the show with a rather tentative looking Paul Stewart.

Klein Brothers

This is a rare Lyle Frisby outdoor shot of the Klein brothers, with Arnold at left and Mel at right.
This photo was first posted on another blog by my friend Cambria.  Many thanks!

Bob Jones

This is Bob Jones, a Lyle Frisby model about whom I know nothing.

Unknown

I found this Lyle Frisby photo of an unknown model over at Men From Back Then.
Thanks, James!

Jim Stewart

Here we have Jim Stewart and some tattoos.

Bert Baumann

This derriere shot is of Bert Baumann.

Keith Stephan

This picture of Keith Stephan is one of those often attributed to Lyle Frisby that I am not entirely certain about.  There is believable documentation that Mr. Frisby's business partner, Pat Milo, printed and published some of his photos taken before his passing.  To add to the confusion,
Pat Milo also photographed some of those same models himself.

Ted Fuller

This is Ted Fuller, and I think that is a cowgirl tattoo on his right arm.
