Galerie Au Bonheur du Jour

It's time for another visit to Galerie Au Bonheur du Jour,
and we start the show with Eric from 1983 by Jean-Danial Cadinot.

Czanara

Some of my favorite works in the Galerie Au Bonheur du Jour collection are
by Czanara, aka Raymond Carrance.  This one is dated 1960.

Anatola Soungouroff

This untitled work is by Anatola Soungouroff (1911-1982) from 1937.
An Estonian emigre', Mr. Sougouroff did most of his work in Paris.

Claude Pillas by Ferrero

Galerie Au Bonheur du Jour has had quite a few good photos by Jean Ferraro on their website
over the past few months.  This one of Claude Pillas is from about 1960.

Ernst Hildebrand

This is Article 175 by German artist Ernst Hildebrand, ca 1950.  The title refers
to the part of the German criminal code which prohibited homosexual acts.

John Graham

British photographer John Graham took this in 1960.

Andre Ragot

A firefighter posed for Andre Ragot's The Youth of Hercules in 1935.

Arthur Tress

Arthur Tress took this one in 1980.

Andre Delfau

It was 1960 when Andre Delfau did this drawing of a nude male with a towel.

Joseph Caprio

The final image in today's Galerie Au Bonheur du Jour set is by Joseph Caprio from 1982.

Galerie au Bonheur

I never cease to be amazed by the sheer depth and diversity of the collection of Galerie au Bonheur.  Today I will present a dozen examples in chronological order, starting with an 1876 work by Gaudenzio Marconi that I had not seen amywhere else.

Bruno Wiehr

German photographer Bruno Wiehr took this artistic photo in 1927.

Reynaud Icard

It was 1931 when Reynaud Icard took this woodsy outdoor photo.

Maurice Bernard

We get a nice stop action image in this 1940 shot of a volleyball game by Maurice Bernard.

Royale

Basil Clavering of Royale Studio in London took this one in 1950.

George Quaintance

I was surprised and pleased to find this interesting 1952 work by George Quaintance on the Galerie au Bonheur website.  The veil fabric cover was both a censorship dodge and an artistic element.

Arax of Paris

The pose is somewhat unexpected in this Arax of Paris photo from 1955.
We are more accustomed to seeing his models in statuesque standing positions.

Jean Ferrero

Tito Cento posed for Jean Ferrero in the early 1960s in a photo
that I hadn't seen before it appeared in Galerie au Bonheur.

Konrad Helbig

Galerie au Bonheur, being based in Paris, naturally has much French content, but they do feature international figures as well.  This 1965 images is by German photographer Konrad Helbig.

Jean-Daniel Cadinot

Better known as a porn film producer, Jean-Daniel Cadinot was quite good when he did still photography.  This photo is from 1976 and implies that the model was smoking hot, which he was.
