Darryl Powers Day

Darryl Powers, aka Lance Ponton, was one of the most prolific models who worked for Walter Kundzicz of Champion Studio.  In fact, he also worked for Mr. K in other capacities at his Sunset Beach Club nudist resort in Florida.  For more about this interesting fellow, click his label, and you will find more info.  We start with a lakeside flexing pose.

Although I'm not aware that Darry Powers was a competive bodybuilder,

this is a classic competition pose.

 

Al Urban

I have viewer Bryan B. to thank for this Al Urban photo of an unknown model.

Sometimes simplicity can be stunningly effective.

Standard flex

This is a standard bodybuilder's pose, but there's nothing average about Helmut Riedmeyer.

 

Handsome

Although this is not the most revealing photo of Spencer Churchill,

it really shows off his good looks and some of his muscles.

 

Urban

Al Urban's entry into the top dozen group is also a favorite model, John Gallagher.  

I'm not always a big fan of this level of oiling, but it works here.

 

Cockles

Mr. Scumbeast called our final classic piece,

"Cockles and muscles, alive, alive O."

Physique Week, Day 1 - Flexing Models

Kicking off Physique Week with some prime models depicted by five of my favorite photographers 

in a variety of classic flexing poses.  We start with Ray Harper by Dave Martin.

Andy Buck stikes an impressive pose here for Douglas of Detroit.

The great outdoors was the setting for this Bruce of LA picture of Bob Poling.

Lon of New York took this picture of Fred Boysiewick flexing by a column.

Russ Warner took this photo of Al Galios flexing somewhere in California.

His square shoulders, triangular upper body, and flexing pose make this 1955 Martin 

photo of Doyle Brewer a true classic example of the physique genre.

Not your usual flexing

Mid-20th Century physique photography features a lot of guys flexing their muscles,

and today I am posting some rather unusual poses, starting with this one of Sig Ulmanis.

Sig was known to work for Chuck Renslow, but this one is not in the Kris archive.
